Rope Installation
Rope installation drawing 1969

The rope installations were part of a large group of constructions and installations done in 1969 that led away from formalism and minimalism towards conceptual art. The focus was moving from the aesthetics of the object to the the effectiveness of the object as a statement in a debate about the definition of art. As the works became more site specific they incorporated the gallery space into the work.
